DETAILS

Begun in 1983 and thus well-established as a Southern standard-bearer for loaded thin-crust, New York-style pizzas by the pie or slice, Atlanta's Fellini's Pizza has expanded through the years to include a number of area locations. Fellini's Pizza joints feature plastic lawn furniture on the patios and wooden booths and tables inside. The house specialty is the Special pizza (pepperoni, Italian sausage, sliced meatballs, mushrooms, onions, green peppers, green and black olives, and extra cheese), a wonderful mound of toppings that remarkably doesn't overwhelm the thin, crunchy crust. Other favorites include the spinach and Roma tomato pizza or the white, sauceless pizza. Diners can also build their own slices. On family night, ask the server to make a "kid's cut," which means the pizza will be sliced into smaller, kid-sized pieces. Other menu options include giant calzones and iceberg lettuce salads loaded with vegetables.

Beer and wine available. Serving lunch, dinner and late-night daily.

"The thick, hearty pies easily surpass any of the national chains' and their simple salads hit the spot, but the white pizza is in a class by itself, with one bite transporting you to cheese and garlic heaven."
