Categories: Breakfast , Cafe , Home-style , Sandwiches

Features: Handicap Access , Kid Friendly , Smoke Free , Vegetarian Friendly

Quirky The Flying Biscuit Cafe opened in 1993 in the Candler Park neighborhood and quickly established itself as a community stronghold thanks to its multifaceted, breakfast-loaded menu and the irreverence of owner Delia Champion - the original menu offered the Bohemian Breakfast, consisting of an espresso brownie, a cup of coffee and two cigarettes! Champion takes pride in serving healthy options, though, such as free-range chicken, organic eggs and loads of vegetarian-friendly choices. Now with several area locations, the Flying Biscuit features sunflower paintings on the walls, pig-tailed servers and, of course, those tall, fluffy biscuits. The breakfast-all-day menu includes carnivore as well as vegetarian options with combinations of eggs, chicken and sage sausage, organic oatmeal pancakes with peach compote, and turkey bacon. Try the Hollywood omelet with egg whites, spinach, mushrooms, white cheddar cheese and tomato sauce or the fried eggs on black bean cakes topped with tomatillo salsa and sour cream. Signature lunch and dinner items include turkey meat loaf and pudge (mashed potatoes with sun-dried tomatoes, basil and olive oil), served with a salad and a biscuit. Choose grits and fried green tomatoes with jalapeño relish as sides.

"Breakfast is served all day long, but lunch and dinner also are offered---look for the signature turkey meatloaf, served with a side of 'pudge,' another signature item (mashed potatoes blended with sun-dried tomatoes), and the black bean 'love' cakes with tomatillo salsa."

- Gayot Beer and wine available. Serving breakfast and lunch daily.
