DETAILS

From the restaurant:"An izakaya is a type of Japanese drinking establishment that also serves food to accompany the drinks. The food is usually more substantial than that offered in other types of drinking establishments in Japan such as bars or snack bars. They are popular, casual and relatively cheap places for after-work drinking. Depending on the room, customers sit on Zabuton mats and dine from low tables in the traditional Japanese style or sit on chairs and drink/dine from tables. We offer a choice of both, table, Japanese room and sushi bar. Our dishes and drinks are ordered throughout the course of the session as desired. Unlike other Japanese styles of eating, food items are usually shared by everyone at the table. That's why most of our menu is tapas style, so even one person can enjoy many different kinds of food! Always come in a group to share all the food at the same table!"

Full bar. Serving dinner Tue-Sun. Closed Mon.

"Shoya ought to appeal to those of us who seek out newness and adventure, and folks who will appreciate the ambition of a place this authentic."- Besha Rodell, Creative Loafing, Aug. 5, 2009
