An Austin favorite since 1982 and run by two Normandy natives, delightful Chez Nous somehow manages to capture the look and feel (lacy curtains, fresh flowers in bottles, French posters) of a casually romantic bistro on Paris' Left Bank despite its location just off Austin’s busy Sixth Street. The regional French cuisine remains consistently top notch, showcased most effectively and economically with the daily three-course, prix fixe menu (choice of several appetizers, one of three selected main courses and dessert). Start with one of the delicious house-made pâtés, an order of escargots or the ever-popular salade Lyonnaise. Main courses can include simple but spectacular seafood specials (salmon with pesto, for instance), veal, duck, roast chicken and steak. Baskets of fresh-baked baguettes magically remain well-stocked by the attentive waitstaff.
