Best Indian

Lushly decorated in British Empire style, The Ambassador Dining Room is not only Baltimore's top Indian restaurant, it is one of the city's best overall restaurants, period. Typical Indian dishes are done well here, including an extensive selection of vegetarian entrées, but even better bets are the chef's recommendations, which may include grilled lamb chops with mint chutney, Bengali swordfish served with fresh mango salsa, Goa fish (a whole fish, pan-fried, and topped with a mixture of roasted garlic, tamarind and scallions), and murgh khumari (a chicken breast coated with lentils and served with an apricot ginger sauce). The budget-conscious may want to try the popular lunch buffet.

Full bar. Serving lunch and dinner daily.

"Serene is the word for this Indian gem, especially in summer, when doors on the covered patio are thrown open to bring in the evening air and while tuxedoed waiters tend the handsome crowd."
