Many time-tested recipes from generations of Spiliadis family establishments in Istanbul and their native Greece are served today at their Fells Point eatery, The Black Olive. The Spiliadis family believes in simple preparation and organic ingredients, realized in traditional Greek small plates and the restaurant’s specialty: fresh fish, prepared whole and fileted tableside. Sushi-grade tuna, lamp chops and beef tenderloin are other top entrée options. The bread pudding isn’t your usual sweet treat — it’s prepared with house-made olive bread — and is one of the restaurant’s must-haves. A substantial wine list includes Greek varieties.
Full bar. Serving lunch and dinner daily.
"The Spiladis family's Fells Point restaurant, a revelation for the freshness of its fish and produce when it opened in 1997, has seen its act repeated all over town. The opening of a long-awaited hotel property behind the restaurant should help return the Black Olive to center stage."
