When looking for the perfect pastries to punctuate their sophisticated haute cuisine, Baltimore’s restaurateurs flock to the east side of town for pastry chef Joseph Poupon’s extravagant creations. Fortunately for the rest of us, Poupon’s croissants and pastries are also sold individually at Patisserie Poupon, where you can even linger with them over a steaming cup of coffee if you’re lucky enough to snag one of the few small tables inside or out. Poupon’s Fuji San, a tangy cake made with passion fruit and milk chocolate mousse, garnished with dark chocolate and macaroons, has been known to finish in the top five in the U.S. Pastry Competition. But there are plenty of other mouth-watering options, from fruit tarts and hazelnut cakes to chocolate "purses" filled with decadent creams. Full-sized cakes and larger desserts can be ordered ahead of time, and Poupon’s is also a sought-after vendor for wedding cakes.
No alcohol available. Serving from 7 am–6 pm Mon–Sat. Closed Sun.
"Where other bakeries toss a roasted nut on a croissant and call it a day, Patisserie Poupon's flavored croissants are filled with large hunks of the their namesake nuts; we can't stay away from the almond or walnut."— Baltimore City Paper
