An extreme makeover years ago gave Towson institution Towson Diner a hot new look, including art deco-inspired architecture, brightly colored Mediterranean murals, and neon and chrome accents. Open 24 hours, the diner is a late-night hot spot for local teen-agers, but at any given time you're likely to find a range of customers settling in for hot meals served in enormous portions. The menu boasts classic diner fare, including burgers and fries, mounds of eggs, bacon, and hash browns, available all day. You also can't go wrong with anything Greek, from the souvlaki to the Greek-style omelet. For dessert, the baklava is a must, but there's an assortment of fresh-baked pies as well.

"Morning, noon and night, the food is always fresh and plentiful, from the most basic ham-and-egg breakfast to the fanciest Captain's Platter with broiled lobster tail, flounder filet, scallops, stuffed clams and shrimp."
Gayot Kids' menu. Full bar. Open for breakfast, lunch and dinner 24 hours daily.
