Burgers reach an entirely new level at Grover’s Bar & Grill, a small brown roadhouse that was destined to have neon beer signs in its windows. There’s a chalkboard to write your name on if there’s a wait — expect one on weekends, and you’ll know why after sinking your teeth into one of Grover’s 12-ounce burgers on a kaiser roll. Toppings include Swiss, cheddar, blue cheese, bacon, mushrooms and barbecue sauce. For a change of pace, try the tuna melt, a grilled ham and Swiss on rye, or various salads. The crispy fries are highly recommended. A fish fry is offered on Fridays.
Cash only. Full bar. Serving lunch and dinner Mon–Sat. Closed Sun.
Art Voice: Best Burger, 2011 readers' poll
"The meat is standard-issue finely ground beef, though plenty juicy, and the vegetables are in perfect condition. A basket of crisp fries is a nice idea, too, along with an afternoon pitcher for those who don't have to return to work."
