A small diner that feels like home, Amy’s Place is the place to go for a reasonably priced breakfast and some Lebanese food. Sounds like an odd combination, but somehow this campus-area eatery, with its black and white mural on the front of the building, makes it work. Breakfast begins with a super cheap, before-9 am special of two eggs, hash browns and toast. Omelets, pancakes, breakfast burritos and bagels can be enjoyed for a bit more. Lebanese and other Middle Eastern specialties are scattered throughout the menu and include favorites such as kofta (lamb mixed with parsley and onions) served with hummus and tabouli, and shawarma (slow-roasted marinated meat). To make the experience even more interesting, a section of the menu is dedicated to employees’ creative dishes. Burgers, wraps, lentil soup and an extensive vegetarian menu (veggie burgers, various wraps) are also featured. Even vegans can find some items to enjoy.
Cash only. No alcohol available. Serving breakfast, lunch and dinner daily.
"I ordered the Margie Meal, an enormous combination of char-broiled chicken, fajita fries, tomatoes, garlic spread and sauce, rolled in a pita. I dug in with a fork and knife but it didn’t seem right. So I gave it a go with my hands but I lost the battle. Now, I’m wondering, how do most people eat this creation? Whatever the case, it was very good."
