Cozumel Grill & Tequila Bar looks like something out of a Western movie, with its arched windows and reddish-brown brick. That is, until you spot the neon palm trees on the sign out front. This refurbished carriage house draws diners to its bars and expansive covered patio with its extensive Mexican menu. Winning Cozumel starters include fried cactus strips, Cajun grilled rock shrimp, nachos, chili, stuffed poblano peppers and chicken wings. (It is Buffalo, after all.) Mexican specialties include quesadillas, fajita wraps, chimichangas, tacos — try the fish tacos — and burritos, but the drunken chicken (a chicken breast sautéed with tequila, red and green peppers, onions, mushrooms, and sausage) and the Mexicali shrimp (shrimp sautéed in white wine with roasted garlic and jalapeños, served over red rice) are house favorites.
Full bar. Serving lunch and dinner daily. Sun brunch 11 am–4 pm.
Art Voice: Best Patio, 2011 readers' poll
"Unlike this city's abundant taco, sub and wing joints, Cozumel's versions often include red and blue corn tortillas and are always made with fresh ingredients, including their zingy signature salsas."
