"Urban Standard opened its doors in November 2007 after almost a year of planning. The initial idea was to open a workshop/gallery, where the public could see the work of Tomek Wrzesien, the proprietor of Urban Standard, as well the work of a rotating cast of local artists. That idea merged into a coffee and lunch spot complete with antiques and a serious city vibe."

Birmingham Weekly: Best Coffee and Best Espresso, 2010 readers' poll

"Urban Standard is a treat from start to finish. One dish delighted more than the next, and the funky setting made us smile and then shop for friends. It all makes for an exceptionally good outing."
