Betty’s stands out in the quiet Buffalo neighborhood of Allentown thanks to its cheerful atmosphere and ambitious, delicious menu of traditional American favorites that includes vegetarian-friendly options. The eatery is particularly known for its Sunday brunch, one of the very best in the area. Favorites include huevos rancheros, Mickey’s breakfast casserole (eggs baked with bread, sausages, cream and cheddar topped with caramelized onions), spinach potato pancakes and poached egg pillows. Outstanding home fries come on the side with most entrées. Recommended lunch options include the tuna salad sandwich, the veggie Italian sub, the black bean burrito and the soup of the day, while dinner offerings may include chicken potpie, paella or eggplant Parmesan. Try the bread pudding or coconut cream pie for dessert.
Kids' menu. Full bar. Serving breakfast, lunch and dinner Tue–Sat. Sat brunch 9 am–3:30 pm, Sun brunch 9 am–2 pm. Closed Mon.
Art Voice: Best Brunch, 2011 readers' poll
"I chose, after much deliberation, the smothered corn bread. Scrambled eggs and black beans served over homemade cornbread, topped with cheese, salsa, and sour cream. ... This was a fantastic choice for brunch – the beans were perfectly seasoned, the eggs cooked so they were light and fluffy, the salsa chunky and flavorful, and the sour cream and cheese to pull it all together. The side home fries were lightly seasoned and crispy – just the way I like 'em."
