A Buffalo tradition since 1981, Jim’s Steakout is best known as the home of the steak hoagy, which pretty much sets the bar for sandwiches in these parts. We’re talking five ounces of sirloin chopped on the grill and topped with fried onions, cheese, lettuce, tomato and Jim’s Own Secret Sauce on a warm Italian roll. Double the meat, and the roll, and you have The Load. Grill the meat flat, and you have the Steak & Cheese Sub. The rest of the menu stays simple: hot and cold submarine sandwiches, quarter-pound burgers (including a veggie burger), chicken finger subs, Buffalo wings, tacos and salads. The fries and onion rings are some of the best in the area.
Kids' menu. No alcohol available. Serving lunch, dinner and late-night daily.
Art Voice: Best Sub, Best French Fries, Best 2 am Eats, 2011 readers' poll
"The standard fare is unapologetically greasy and panders to exactly what your utter lack of willpower craves at that exact moment."
