With an historic building that dates to the 1800s, Mecklenburg Gardens offers a unique spot to enjoy traditional German dishes as well as an extensive selection of beer and wine.
From the restaurant's website:
"At Mecklenburg's you and your guests will enjoy the ambience of our
19th century building, which is on the National Registry of Historic
Places. The restaurant has the original Germanic architectural elements
intact, including heavy timber beams, stained-glass windows, fireplaces,
immense mahogany bar and several wood-paneled rooms. ... Our menu
consists of everything from traditional German dishes to innovative
American cuisine."
"Founded in 1865, Mecklenburg Gardens is one of the primary
establishments attesting to Cincinnati's rich German heritage.
Originally the 'town hall' of a German community called 'Kloppenburg'
(presumably named after the sound that empty steins make on the bar),
Mecklenburg now serves traditional German cuisine, hosts private parties
in its historic banquet rooms and delivers the finest of German beers."
