Columbus Monthly’s top steak house and best steak for two decades, Hyde Park Prime Steakhouse has earned its reputation through top-notch service and stellar steaks. With a number of locations in Ohio, the homegrown franchise has grown into other states nationally. So while it competes with such high-end national chains as Morton’s, Mitchell’s and Ruth’s Chris, it maintains the character of an independently owned establishment. The New York-chophouse décor of dark woods and dim lighting makes for a surprisingly casual environment where local flavors abound. Start with the Hyde Park Wedge, a huge cut of iceberg lettuce topped with blue cheese dressing, bacon and candied pecans. While the traditional steak menu retains all the classics — filet mignon, 22-ounce porterhouse, grilled veal chop and the like — the specialty list offers some more exceptional choices, such as the Steak Cabernet (filet mignon with roasted shallot Cabernet butter) and Steak à la lobster (a filet crowned with lobster and Béarnaise).
Full bar. Serving dinner nightly.
