Area vegetarians, vegans and organic sticklers alike adore Dream Cafe, on the Quadrangle — and in the Village on the Parkway in nearby Addison — serving New American and Southwestern fare made solely from organic vegetables, meats and seafood. Bold hues and funky artwork color this eclectic eatery, where the health-conscious mindset doesn’t inhibit the kitchen’s knack for creativity. The Square Meal, for example, provides a hearty helping of grilled veggies, black beans and brown rice, while the Sonoma squash stuffs brown rice, pecans, currants and goat cheese in a sizable grilled acorn squash. Meat-eaters find plenty of options as well, ranging from shrimp tacos and Asian tuna to the Greek burger (beef patty with goat cheese, served in a pita pocket) and mystic pizza (chicken, melted Brie and caramelized onions). Nearly all soups, salads, sandwiches and "bigs" (aka entrées) offer the addition of tofu, chicken or fish for just a few dollars more. Breakfast’s not-to-be-missed house specialties are done right, with Texas-sized portions of pancakes, omelets, griddles and eggs cooked your way.
"Brunch has been a Dream Cafe specialty from the beginning, with many guests enjoying mimosas and 'Cloud Cakes' on the patio. The menu has expanded to include many more savory dishes as well as indulgent desserts, all still made with the same wholesome, quality ingredients that have been a hallmark of 'Dream' cuisine for 20 years."
