diners experience a full range of French fare in relaxed settings of
exposed wood, brick and stone accents à la pastoral France. Breakfast
and lunch, served cafeteria-style, present a tempting selection of
soups, salads, quiches, made-to-order omelets and the house favorite,
the croque monsieur sandwich. Dinner, however, is a seated affair,
offering authentic provincial French cooking to the tune of poached
salmon, beef Bourguignon and chicken Provençal with ratatouille. The
signature treats at La Chatelaine hail from the bakery, where fine
European-style levain
breads (with hard, crunchy crusts) and delectable pastries are made
fresh daily. Imagine: authentic strawberry Napoleons, fresh fruit tarts
and some of the best croissants in town, all without the trans-Atlantic
flight and jet lag. A weekly rotating selection of coffees features
Belgian-style café au lait and hot chocolate.
