Jack's Old Fashion Hamburger House

Average Cost: $

Phone: 954-565-9960

Categories: Burgers , Hot Dogs , Sandwiches

Features: Handicap Access , Kid Friendly , Smoke Free

A true Fort Lauderdale institution, Jack's Old Fashion Hamburger House remains a well-respected emporium for all things round and beefy (if not for its blatant disregard for good grammar). It began with the late former maitre d' Jack Berry's dream that everyone should be able to afford a high-quality burger, inspiring him to open his first of two namesake eateries in 1972. Each of the tiny, no-frills restaurants boasts counter-style service and charbroiled burgers made from beef cut and ground twice daily on the premises. Whether a half- or third-pound patty is your style, the juicy burger sits in the middle of a fresh bun and can be topped with a number of condiments, including several of Jack's signature relishes. Tomatoes, lettuce, grilled peppers, onions and chili, on the other hand, will cost you a few dimes extra. Crispy, brown fries prove an unquestionably necessary sidekick, as does one of the super-thick shakes that almost always requires a spoon. All-beef dogs, chili and a few sandwiches round out Jack's menu of quick, quality eats.

"Since 1972, though, Jack's has been grilling up burgers that would put any national chain to shame."
