Davio’s is a brawny, ambitious place with a menu to match. Owner Steve DiFillippo opened the original Davio’s in the mid-1980s on Newbury Street in the heart of Boston’s Back Bay neighborhood. Davio’s menu is sprawling but enticing, especially for meat lovers. For appetizers, try the Kobe beef tartare, cornmeal-crusted fried oysters or seared foie gras. But don’t fill up, because there are salads, pastas, entrées and more side dishes than many restaurants have dinners. Pastas such as gnocchi with prosciutto or crabmeat ravioli with fava beans are rich and enticing. Dinners include veal tenderloin Milanese, rack of lamb with pancetta and baby limas, and pan-roasted lobster or fresh halibut for those with simpler tastes.

Kids’ menu Full bar. Serving lunch and dinner daily. Sun brunch 11:30 am–3 pm.

"In short, there's something for everyone — which is exactly who shows up here. This is good-times dining for the foodie, the tourist and the suit alike."
