Barnaby's Cafe

414 W Gray St
Houston, TX 77019

Average Cost: $$

Phone: 713-522-8898

Categories: American Traditional, Breakfast, Burgers, Hot Dogs, Ribs

Features: Handicap Access, Kid Friendly, Patio Seating, Smoke Free, Vegetarian Friendly

Serving well-prepared, American comfort food that could be described as diner-esque, the four Barnarby’s locations (or four-and-a-half if you include the breakfast-only Baby Barnaby’s adjacent to the Fairview original), won’t remind anyone of a greasy spoon. The fare is generally better, while the settings are nicer and the service is unfailingly more friendly and cheerful than most diners. Barnaby’s creates very satisfying (and often plus-sized) versions of familiar dishes with some twists. The menu is neatly divided among salads, artful cold sandwiches, hamburgers, dinner plates and desserts. The burgers, made with hormone-free ground chuck, are cooked to a juicy medium and are topped with the likes of guacamole, Texas chili, or spinach and feta. Entrées consist of Hawaiian pork chops, meat loaf with mashed potatoes, and Danish baby back ribs.

Beer and wine available. Serving breakfast 8–11 am Sat–Sun, lunch and dinner daily.

"Not many salads can last for three meals, but Barnaby's chicken Mediterranean salad does it consistently."
