Once just a burger-peddling convenience store known as Christian’s Totem, Christian’s Tailgate Bar & Grill is now a full service restaurant and bar. Despite it’s somewhat shabby, tin exterior, this hole-in-the wall, located at the intersection of Washington and I-10, has everything you could ever want in a neighborhood sports bar. Colossal burgers, ice-cold draft beers in frosted glasses, sports on TV, pool and Golden Tee render this a perfect home away from home and the heat. A second Midtown location makes for a refreshing change of pace from the trendier surrounding restaurants. Fried shrimp, catfish po-boys and Cajun fried chicken are available, but it’d be a crime to miss one of the giant, signature burgers here. These hand-formed, fresh patties come carefully wrapped in tissue in a basket. Variations include the jalapeño bacon burger, or the monstrous, nap-inducing chili burger. Locals in-the-know skip the fries for Christian’s famed onion rings. If it’s good enough for beard and guitar aficionado Billy Gibbons of ZZ Top — spotted here on more than one occasion — it’s good enough for you.
Kids' menu. Live entertainment. Full bar. Serving lunch and dinner until late-night daily.
"Christian's is most famous for serving up meaty, greasy burgers and ice-cold beer. Christian's is loud, in-your-face and the perfect setting for an inter-fraternity brawl."
