Best Cuban
Jacksonville’s unsurpassed Cuban restaurant is actually owned and operated by a Nicaraguan named Silvia Pulido, a vivacious and seemingly tireless mother of four. Her Havana-Jax Cafe and adjoining Cuba Libre Bar have helped spark the local dining and drinking scene since 1994. Indulge in fried plantains and the Caribbean salad, Cuban sandwiches, and entrées such as marinated roast pork, grouper filet with mango salsa, and churrasco (a charbroiled steak with chimichurri sauce). Finish off your evening in the adjacent lounge with a refreshing mojito or some free salsa lessons — the Latin dance, not the beloved condiment — on weekends.
Kids' menu. Full bar. Serving lunch and dinner Mon–Sat. Closed Sun.
"The Cuban sandwiches served in this clean, bright cafe are the real thing: big, thick and flattened."
