To satisfy their cravings for burritos and beans, Kansas Citians head to Southwest Boulevard and its lineup of locally owned Mexican restaurants. Located at the easternmost end of the boulevard, Manny’s Restaurante Mexicano literally — as well as figuratively — stands at the front of the line. Proprietor Manny Lopez, one of the first to open his doors some 30 years ago, welcomes diners to his cavernous dining room, serves generous portions inspired by family recipes, and pampers guests with attentive service. (Your water glass and basket of chips will always be full.) A lively mariachi trio entertains diners on weekend nights. No wonder locals happily wait in line for a table. Manny’s is known for its burritos, starting with the basics: seasoned meat (chicken, pork or beef) and beans wrapped in a tortilla and topped with cheese. From there, you can sauce ’em up, fry ’em up or spice ’em up in a variety of ways. The chile relleno pepper burrito is a poblano pepper stuffed with beans and your choice of beef or cheese all rolled into a tortilla and topped with more cheese. As expected, Manny’s also serves tacos, enchiladas, fajitas, quesadillas and house-made tamales.
Kids' menu. Full bar. Serving lunch and dinner Mon–Sat. Closed Sun.
"One of the first Mexican restaurants to open on the Boulevard, Manny’s is always packed with fans of its selection of tacos, burritos and homemade tamales."
