Billing itself as "New Generation Greek," Louis Pappas Market Café provides convenience for the fast-paced patron with its several Tampa-St. Pete-area dine-in/carry-out locations. The café takes pride in not compromising the original Greek flavors that founder Louis Pappamichalopoulos spotlighted at his Louis Pappas Riverside Restaurant, which closed in 2002. Try their signature Greek salad that includes potato salad, a recipe created by Louis Pappas in his days as an army chef in World War I. Grandson Louis Lucas Pappas still serves it to this day along with soup and Mediterranean sandwiches such as the grouper on pita, turkey breast and pesto with feta, and Greek-a-dillas with gyro meat and a mix of cheeses wrapped in a flour tortilla. Entrées include pastitso (a Greek version of lasagna), fire-grilled octopus and Greek stir-fry with chicken or pork sautéed with peppers, onions and crumbled feta. Beer and wine available. Serving lunch and dinner daily.
