Celebrity-studded Patina has shone brightly among top fine-dining establishments since its 1989 Hollywood debut. Perhaps only a space as spectacular as downtown’s Walt Disney Concert Hall could adequately stage one of Los Angeles’ most consistently compelling restaurants. Chef Joachim Splichal’s complex preparations and seasonally resonant menus have been beautiful to see and taste, but the prominent latest digs provide the necessary crescendo for the divine collaboration of Californian, Asian and round-the-world elements that keep patrons eagerly returning for the best meal of their lives, night after night.
Full bar. Serving dinner Tue–Sun. Closed Mon.
Zagat 2011: 26 food rating (extraordinary to perfection)
Los Angeles Times: *** (excellent)
“Just as the concert hall has re-energized L.A.'s music scene, Patina is finally appealing to more than just dedicated gourmands. Fifteen years after it opened, Splichal has succeeded in giving his flagship restaurant a reinvigorated identity.”
