Golden Deli (along with sister restaurant Saigon Flavor) sets the standard for Vietnamese fare in Los Angeles from its simple, clean setting in San Gabriel. A favorite spot for inexpensive, authentic specialties, the tiny little café has continued to rack up local awards over the years, including being named "best pho." Diners return time and again, anxious to sample something new from the exceptionally lengthy list of soups, stews, noodle and rice dishes. Many find it rather difficult, however, to pass up the specialty phan chao tom starter, delicious shrimp paste on sugarcane with veggies and rice paper. Wash it all down with an avocado smoothie or a salted plum soda.
Cash only. No alcohol available. Serving lunch and dinner Wed–Mon. Closed Tue.
