Memphis Pizza Cafe

Phone: 901-753-2218

Categories: Subs/Hoagies/Po-boys , Pizza

Features: Handicap Access , Kid Friendly , Smoke Free , Vegetarian Friendly

Conveniently located in the heart of Midtown and with locations across Memphis, the locally owned and family-friendly Memphis Pizza Cafe chain has held Best Pizza honors in most area media polls since opening its doors in 1993. The menu is basic - salads, sandwiches, calzones and, of course, the thin-crust pies, made to order and baked on brick slates. Fresh ingredients, an easygoing waitstaff and low prices are what keep customers coming back for more. Students from nearby Memphis College of Art hang out on the shaded back porch at the original Midtown location, where they can munch on the barbecue chicken pizza or the Alternative (a meatless pie that uses olive oil, crushed basil and garlic as a base for fresh tomato slices and hunks of mozzarella cheese). Parents with finicky children love the build-your-own varieties, with nearly 30 ingredients from which to choose. Don't feel like pizza? Order the smoked turkey and cheese on sourdough.

"... the "Hey Meat!" pizza, which has pepperoni, sausage, Canadian Bacon, beef and bacon crumbles. I'm just not sure how to read it. Is it, casual like "Hey, look - it's meat!" or is it an expression of joy, more along the lines of Hey Ho, Let's Go!"?"
