In a cozy, eclectic setting on Miami's up-and-coming Upper East Side, James Bear award-winning chef Michelle Bernstein has come into her own with Michy's, her 50-seat modern bistro founded in 2006. Drawing on her Latin heritage and classical French training, Bernstein weaves local ingredients into a truly cosmopolitan, fresh and comfortable menu, illustrating influence from the cuisines of Asia, Italy, Spain and the American South in dishes such as white gazpacho or the bouillabaisse with crispy rice. Half-orders are available so that you can take advantage of the menu's variety, complemented by the small wine list of high-quality boutique vintages. Make reservations in advance, or be prepared to eat very early or very late - Michy's stays crowded.
Beer and wine available. Serving dinner Tue-Sun. Closed Mon.
"High-energy, colorful, sexy, a little Latin, totally cosmopolitan. ... Bernstein is in the kitchen, cooking, for the first time in her career, food that is exactly hers, a reflection of her Latin upbringing, French training, Asian travels and deep affinity for Italian, Spanish and Southern flavors."
