DETAILS

If you've ever wanted to go to the Greek Isles but just can't seem to make it happen, plan a trip to one of the three Twin Cities locations of Christos Greek Restaurant. You're sure to find an atmosphere akin to an island taverna, with unique cuisine from all over Greece, including specialties from the island of Cyprus. Starters include a hot sampler (meant to be shared) with loukaniko (grilled pork sausage) and stuffed grape leaves. The saganaki, which is melted kasseri cheese flamed tableside, is a particularly dramatic treat. The seemingly endless list of entrées includes traditional favorites moussaka and spanakopita. If you're in the mood for heartier fare, try the spicy tavas - a boneless piece of lamb shoulder with onions, tomatoes and potatoes, oven-baked with red wine and herbs and topped with melted feta. A meal at Christos wouldn't be complete without baklava or rizogalo (rice pudding with raisins).

Full bar. Serving lunch Mon-Fri, dinner Wed-Sat. Closed Sun. "At Christos Greek Restaurant, both the flashy and the faithful offer strong, traditional flavors to Mediterranean devotees."
