Monte Carlo Bar & Cafe

Average Cost: $$

Phone: 612-333-5900

Categories: Brunch , American Traditional , Bar & Grill , Fried Chicken

Features: Full Bar , Handicap Access , Kid Friendly , Patio Seating , Smoke Free , Vegetarian Friendly

Housed in a refurbished Warehouse District building, noted local restaurateur/developer John Rimarcik's Monte Carlo Bar & Cafe is about as Minneapolis as they come. The busy bistro feel is reminiscent of cosmopolitan New York City, but the place remains comfortable and laid back, with satisfying, down-to-earth cooking to warm the heart and please the palate in true Midwest style. Start with a sampler plate of fresh shrimp, calamari, Szechwan green beans and chicken wings, the latter regarded as some of the best in the city. Featured entrées include fried chicken, a beef filet in a whiskey peppercorn sauce, and seafood fettuccine. Relish unfussy desserts such as bread pudding in a buttery praline sauce. A budget-priced, family-style Sunday brunch features eggs Benedict and a traditional sausage, Canadian bacon, eggs, home fries and toast combo. Outdoor seating available when weather permits.

Full bar. Serving lunch and dinner daily. Sun brunch 10 am-2 pm.

"To really round out your blast-from-the-past experience we recommend the chicken noodle soup. It's simple, it's inexpensive, it's got thick shreds of chicken, plus how wholesome can you get?"- City Pages
