Housed in a refurbished Warehouse District building, noted local restaurateur/developer John Rimarcik’s Monte Carlo Bar & Cafe is about as Minneapolis as they come. The busy bistro feel is reminiscent of cosmopolitan New York City, but the place remains comfortable and laid back, with satisfying, down-to-earth cooking to warm the heart and please the palate in true Midwest style. Start with a sampler plate of fresh shrimp, calamari, Szechwan green beans and chicken wings, the latter regarded as some of the best in the city. Featured entrées include fried chicken, a beef filet in a whiskey peppercorn sauce, and seafood fettuccine. Relish unfussy desserts such as bread pudding in a buttery praline sauce. A budget-priced, family-style Sunday brunch features eggs Benedict and a traditional sausage, Canadian bacon, eggs, home fries and toast combo. Outdoor seating available when weather permits.
Full bar. Serving lunch and dinner daily. Sun brunch 10 am–2 pm.
"To really round out your blast-from-the-past experience we recommend the chicken noodle soup. It's simple, it's inexpensive, it's got thick shreds of chicken, plus how wholesome can you get?"
