DETAILS
Housed in a refurbished Warehouse District building, noted local restaurateur/developer John Rimarcik's The Monte Carlo remains about as Minneapolis as they come. The busy bistro feel is reminiscent of cosmopolitan New York City, but the place remains comfortable and laid back, with satisfying, down-to-earth cooking to warm the heart and please the palate in true Midwest style. Start with a sampler plate of fresh shrimp, calamari, Szechwan green beans and chicken wings, the latter regarded as some of the best in the city. Featured entrées include fried chicken, a beef filet in a whiskey peppercorn sauce, and seafood fettuccine. Relish unfussy desserts such as bread pudding in a buttery praline sauce. Full bar. Serving lunch and dinner until late night daily. "To really round out your blast-from-the-past experience we recommend the chicken noodle soup. It's simple, it's inexpensive, it's got thick shreds of chicken, plus how wholesome can you get?"
