After a relatively stagnant few years of the same old Nashville-style pizza (read: no particular style, but a mashup of various influences from New York-style to Pizza Hut), the pizza wars are back on in Music City with a handful of new joints and even a pizza truck to boot. Neapolitan pizza has invaded, and Bella Napoli Pizzeria, from the Valentino's team, does it by the book. In fact, your server will be happy to lecture you on the finer points of Neapolitan pizza and why Bella Napoli honors the tradition. This might seem tedious, if the pies weren't so damn good. These wood-fired 12-inch pizzas boast a thin yet chewy crust that is among the best in town. Pizzas are divided into two categories: with tomato sauce and without. Among the former, it's difficult to go against the classic Margherita with fresh mozzarella, olive oil and plenty of basil. If you're looking to mix it up, go with the Boscaiola with ham, mushrooms and green peas. As for the sauceless, we're partial to the Sorrentino, with fresh mozzarella, sliced mushrooms, pancetta and parmigiano. Generous wine pours and a charming little patio are an added bonus. Full bar. Serving lunch Mon–Sat, dinner nightly.
