DETAILS
Although there's no mistaking the huge vats of brewing beer as you walk through the front door, Blackstone attracts locals at least as much for the food as for its small-batch brews. We'd recommend any of the salads and sandwiches, although two standouts are the signature, loaded-with-goodies house salad and the diet-busting bacon cheddar burger. Entrées lean toward well-prepared grilled meats, and the wood-burning oven reaps tasty pizzas. The beers rank among the best in town: Try the Nut Brown Ale, the Red Springs Ale and the Chaser Pale, the latter a light brew for beer drinkers who think they don't like anything but Miller Lite. The place is always packed during prime lunch and dinner hours, so expect a wait. The small patio fills up quickly, too. But if you never leave the dark, clubby bar area, order at least one more hot and soft pretzel with mustard than your first inclination. Full bar. Serving lunch and dinner daily. Late-night Fri-Sat.
