A spinoff of Belle Meade's Whitfield's from young Nashville native and restaurateur Nathaniel Beaver and chef-partner Tabor Luckey, Bria Bistro Italiano has added a much-needed independent Italian option to chain-heavy suburban Bellevue. Expect well-executed turns on the classics of the genre: lasagna, eggplant Parmesan, chicken cacciatore, saltimbocca, and chicken or veal picatta. The wood-fired oven left over from the previous tenant gets a workout for meat and fish specials. And the front-and-center wraparound bar features specialty cocktails such as the Bria Tini (worth the extra freight for bleu cheese-stuffed olives), spiced bourbon highball and a classic bellini.
