DETAILS
One of Nashville's first Cajun restaurants, Bro's Cajun Cuisine has managed to keep a loyal following for its authentically prepared specialties despite moving around town a few times. Lafayette, La., native chef/owners Darrell (larger than life) and Linda Breaux finally landed in a funky-but-chic hilltop house overlooking Charlotte Pike in West Nashville. The menu changes daily with special entrées both Cajun and American (an excellent Cajun jambalaya or a stuffed pork chop, for instance). Steady stalwarts include red beans and rice, shrimp Creole, po-boys, boudin, gumbo and crawfish étouffée. And make welcome barbecued pork, ribs and brisket thanks to the addition of a smokehouse. Southern-style sides include excellent green beans and cornbread dressing. A crawfish boil happens every Friday and Saturday night in season. Consistent with the real-deal nature of the place, you may find a stray okra or two floating in your beans. Make it welcome! Beer available. Serving lunch Mon-Fri, dinner Fri-Sat. Closed Sun.
