DETAILS
East Nashvillians have long complained (as they are wont to do, particularly on the Listserv) about the lack of casual dining options in Five Points. Sure, they had their pick among purveyors of pub food or schmancy brunch spots, but some place with a casual vibe and decent, affordable food was lacking. And that void is mercifully filled with the addition of Five Points Pizza. When rumors of a new pizza place in the heart of Five Points circulated, much speculation ensued. One widely believed theory was that it would do most of its business in takeout and as a late-night by-the-slice joint for hipsters in need of a booze sponge. This turned out to be patently untrue, aside from the fact that they do serve pizza by the slice for a reasonable price. Five Points Pizza did a bang-up job creating a cozy little bi-level space you'd want to sit down in and linger over a pie and a couple of beers. As for the pizza itself, the crust really steals the show. It's thinnish, chewy but just crusty (yes, the crust is crusty) enough for a pleasurable cracking sensation. Choose from a decent selection of specialty pies: the sausage ricotta and the vegetarian (with fresh tomatoes and artichoke hearts) are highlights. Beverages include a handful of craft beers on draft and a few by the can: kudos for choices such as Porkslap and the Schlitz tall boys. Beer available. Serving lunch and dinner Wed-Mon. Late-night Fri-Sat. Closed Tue. "It's not as thin as what you might get in a typical N.Y. pizza joint, but it's quite good."
