Hog Heaven

615-329-1234  •  $
ADDRESS: 115 27th Ave N , Nashville, TN 37203

CUISINE: Barbecue, Ribs, Takeout, Sandwiches

FEATURES: Handicap Access, Kid Friendly, Patio Seating, Smoke Free

DETAILS
Alongside Centennial Park's expansive greenery and the magnificent replica of the Parthenon sits owner/pitmaster Katy Garner's Hog Heaven, an unassuming little barbecue stand whose backyard pit has produced some of the best smoked meats in town since 1986. Pulled pork shoulder sandwiches, beef brisket, pork ribs, excellent pulled turkey breast and two types of chicken (get the unique white barbecue sauce to top) highlight the small menu. Top-notch sides include green beans, white beans and some of the city's best coleslaw. Dining is mainly carry-out, although a few picnic tables are out front, not to mention a very large park just begging to be picnicked upon. Be warned that discriminating neighborhood pigeons know to hang out here for scraps instead of the McDonald's next door. If you behave, the bartenders at Springwater just might look the other way if you decide to bring a sandwich on their patio. You didn't hear it here, though. No alcohol available. Serving lunch and early dinner 10 am–7 pm Mon–Sat. Closed Sun.
