ADDRESS: 716 Gallatin Pike, Nashville, TN 37206

CUISINE: Greek, Mediterranean, Sandwiches, Takeout

FEATURES: Handicap Access, Kid Friendly, Smoke Free, Vegetarian Friendly

DETAILS
Driving up Gallatin Pike in East Nashville, you see any number of questionable gyro joints and bizarre Chinese takeout shacks, and usually you'd be well served to keep on driving. But if you spot this tiny orange drive-thru across from the Eastland Kroger, pull a U-turn and treat yourself to some fantastic Greek to-go from an unlikely source. The lamb/beef gyro meat is thin, slightly crispy and full of flavor. The gyro plate comes with spicy fries and tasty yellow rice, with or without tzatziki sauce. It's hard to pass up the oversized sandwiches - either gyro or tender grilled chicken - wrapped in a thick, floury pita with tomato, cucumber and tzatziki. And you needn't possess the wealth of King Solomon to afford it, as everything is bargain-priced. Seriously, no one tell the super friendly man in the booth how much he could be charging for this stuff. It's quality. No alcohol available. Serving lunch and dinner daily. "... the wait is a small price to pay for one of the East side's best cheap meals."
