Mad Platter, The

ADDRESS: 1239 Sixth Ave N , Nashville, TN 37208

CUISINE: Contemporary, Farm to Table, Brunch

FEATURES: Full Bar, Handicap Access, Smoke Free, Vegetarian Friendly, Patio Seating

DETAILS
The historic Germantown neighborhood just north of downtown Nashville dates to the 1840s, when European immigrants settled there to work at nearby factories. The area is known for its restored Victorian homes and annual Oktoberfest celebration. In 1989, Craig and Marcia Jervis - they met while catering Michael Jackson's Victory tour several years earlier - opened The Mad Platter in a romantically restored brick corner store and quickly started drawing crowds both at lunch and at dinner. The ever-changing, season-inspired menu remains relatively short but eclectic and makes use of their herb garden out back. The Mad Platter is not the place for a hurried meal, and both the food and the atmosphere encourage intimacy. Top entrée choices include the signature rack of lamb and Falls Mill duck breast over Falls Mill grits. The Chocolate Elvis leads the dessert offerings. Lunch, in particular, can get crowded quickly. Full bar. Serving lunch Mon–Fri, dinner Wed–Sun. Sun brunch 10:30 am-2 pm. "Located in an old brick corner store in a historic neighborhood of restored Victorian houses, the Mad Platter feels like a cozy upscale library, with bookshelves crammed with knickknacks and old copies of National Geographic."
