East Nashville neighborhood staple Pizzereal is housed in a magnificently restored red building, with the house specialty ranking among the best the city has to offer. The pizza pies boast of being a combination of Boston-style (thin in the middle, thicker outside crust) and New York-style (thin, pliable crust throughout), although we'd call them decidedly more Boston-style. They come in one size only - a large, 14-inch - which begins as basic cheese with add-ons that include the usual pepperoni, sausage, mushroom, onions, peppers, olives and the like but also with some more exotic fare such as baby spinach, feta, blue cheese or Mediterranean labne
(yogurt cheese). Specialty pizzas include the Pizza Spinaci (fresh chopped garlic and basil, mozzarella, baby spinach leaves tossed in pepper-infused olive oil, pepperoni and mushroom) and the Tuscan Garden (fresh chopped kale and garlic, merlot wine tomato sauce, mozzarella, portabella mushrooms and the aforementioned labne
). Two types of well-prepared Greek salads as well as delicious pork shish kabobs also are offered.
