Best Wine Bar
If ever a neighborhood earned its very own wine bar, it's steadily gentrifying East Nashville, which got its wish in 2007 with the quickly well-received Rumours East. Housed in the resplendently renovated Victorian house — with one of the city's best patios — that once was Red Wagon Cafe, Rumours East cut ties in early 2009 from the ownership of former big sister wine bar Rumours on 12th Avenue South. Fortunately for East siders, Rumours co-founder and chef Hernan Borda has moved across the river as co-owner and chef at Rumours East. The talented Argentinean specializes in Spanish- and South American-inspired small plates and pizzas, with a constantly changing contemporary menu that often include longtime Borda favorites such as steamed mussels and shrimp and grits.
"Owners Ken and Sam Foley have assembled a dedicated team. Wine, food and the arts have a fine home at Rumours East."
— Nancy Vienneau,
The Tennessean, April 20, 2012
