The last surviving 1840s townhouse in downtown Nashville, The Standard at the Smith House boasts a history as rich and as varied as the city's itself, as detailed nicely on the restaurant's website. The Smith family's beautiful restoration has resulted in what undoubtedly is among the city's most handsome, relaxing dining rooms since a 2006 reopening. Menu highlights can include chicken salad, crab bisque, pecan-crusted chicken, shrimp and grits, pan-fried trout, braised rabbit and double-cut pork chop, and a particularly refreshing fruit tea. Street parking (free after 6 pm and on weekends) and free parking between the painted yellow bars in a lot across the street.
