From the restaurant's website:
"While researching their latest project, partners Simon Oren (Marseille, Sushi Samba, L`Express) and chef Andy d`Amico (Sign of the Dove, Little Dove) traveled and ate their way through Nice in the fall of 2002. Opened in April 2003 in Manhattan`s newest culinary destination - the Upper West Side - Nice Matin is a delightful concoction destined to enchant each and every visitor. Nice Matin has been certified Green by the Green Restaurant Association. This certification includes the implementation of green business practices and demonstrates our continued support for a more environmentally conscious restaurant industry."
"Nice Matin, named after the largest daily newspaper in the South of France, gives the Upper West Side a splash of Provencal sunshine and a heady introduction to the cuisine of Nice, home of the pissaladiere, pan bagnat and, if we are to believe the menu, a whopping big burger ... smeared with aioli."
