Relocated from its original Upper East Side digs, Charlie Palmer's Aureole now resides in the first floor of the Bank of America Tower near Times Square. Palmer himself has since stepped down, but his "Progressive American cuisine" remains a favorite among theatergoers and the business cocktail crowd. Aureole offers à la carte dining in the sleek, sprawling bar room and three-course meals in the main dining room with items such as chestnut pappardelle, Long Island Peking Duck and butter poached Maine Lobster. "Aureole is one of the city's most popular and revered restaurants. ... After 13 years as the executive chef at Aureole, Charlie Palmer, the owner, passed the baton. ... The menu is lighter and more international, with hidden pockets of unabashed richness here and there."
