Frank
Castronovo and Frank Falcinelli's casual eatery
Frankies Spuntino opened in 2011 and continues its Brooklyn sister restaurant's popularity among
locals thanks to simple Italian fare, after work drinks and leisurely
brunches. Vegetable antipasti (try the excellent cauliflower) and a wide
selection of cured meats, cheeses and crostini are ideal for snacking.
The brilliant house-made cavatelli with Faicco's hot sausage and brown
sage butter is among our favorite dishes in the city.
From the restaurant's website:
"Frankies Spuntino is a unique Italian
restaurant owned by chefs Frank Falcinelli and Frank Castronovo.
Frankies' menu is a fresh approach to the lighter side of Italian
cooking, including Italian cured meats, slab bacon and sausage from
Faicco's, cheeses, crostini, specialty thin-crusted sandwiches on Grand
Daisy bread, hand-made pastas, citrus-marinated olives, roasted meats
and vegetables and fresh salads."
"Frankie's pulls off an
exceptional culinary balancing act between rustic old-world and flawless
new-world. It has a serious wine list and irresistible pastas. ..."
