A Flatiron favorite since 1994, Gramercy Tavern executes New American fine dining sans pretension, ambitious fusiony fare or gimmicky atmospheric touches. Instead, flowers, colorful murals and wood-beamed ceilings create a comfortable farmhouse ambiance. Since taking the reins from Tom Colicchio in 2006, chef Michael Anthony (formerly of Daniel and Blue Hill and winner of the James Beard Foundation for Best Chef: New York City for 2012) has breathed new life into this rustic dining room with an aggressive farm-to-table approach. If you don't believe he means business about this slow-food philosophy, consider the five-course vegetable tasting menu. Though menus change seasonally, past prix fixe offerings in the main dining room have included pasture-raised roasted chicken with roasted and puréed carrots, smoked lobster, and rack of pork and braised belly. The less formal, and easier on the wallet, Tavern Room up front features menu items á la carte.   " ... like a solid marriage rather than a heady love affair, it has stood the test of time, righting itself when it starts to go wrong, knowing that what's at stake are a great many warm memories, some yet to be made."
- Frank Bruni, The New York Times , June 6, 2007

"The menu reads like a holiday meal at the house of a friend who loves to cook almost as much as he loves to challenge himself and impress others."
- New York magazine

"In the front of the restaurant, the flower-bedecked tavern room and appealing bar captures the essence of hospitality ... with its less serious all-day menu."
- Michelin New York City
