Cafe do Brasil has evolved since it opened, from a muffin shop to a full-fledged café and bar specializing in Brazilian cuisine and drinks. A must-try entrée is feijoada, the Brazilian national dish akin to American soul food. The stew includes black beans, pork, onions and garlic and is complemented with sides of rice, collard greens and orange segments. Deep-fried bananas, a common Brazilian side dish, are also well worth ordering. Ditto the country's answer to the margarita, the caipirinha, made with cachaca (the most popular alcoholic liquor in Brazil, made from sugar cane), limes, sugar and ice. Other recommendations include fresh fruit with a passion fruit raspberry sauce, cheese bread and any of the 16 choices of muffins. For dessert, try Brazilian pie.
Live music some nights. Full bar. Serving lunch Tue–Fri, dinner Tue–Sat. Sat–Sun brunch 10 am–2:30 pm. Closed Mon.
