The much-lauded tri-level restaurant Higgins, named after co-owner Greg Higgins, specializes in upscale Northwestern fare with French influences. Focused mainly on local, sustainable and organic ingredients, the innovative and oft-changing menu attracts crowds of locals to the classy but unpretentious dining room. Windows allow passersby to check out the open kitchen as well as the pressed-tin ceiling. From the bistro menu, try the ground sirloin burger (a high-end interpretation of the American classic) or the signature charcuterie appetizer with house-cured meats and Higgins pickles. For dinner, entrées have included cider-glazed pork loin with chili-onion relish, duck confit with brandied blood-orange conserve, and a plethora of delicious vegetarian options. Beer connoisseurs and the after-work crowd take comfort in the full bar, which features a staggering array of Belgian, German and English beers.
Full bar. Serving lunch Mon–Fri, dinner until late night daily.
"Enjoy meat and seafood dishes such as line-caught wild salmon, for example, as well as hearty items like the “whole pig plate”: a combination of braised belly, ribs and crepinette, fennel sausage, and black kale and cranberry bean stew."
