Best Contemporary

Much-heralded 2 Vine has established itself as one of Rochester’s very best American contemporary restaurants, earning accolades for its excellent menu as well as its transformational architecture. Once the site of an ambulance garage, the early 20th-century building received new windows, tile, decorative glass and a canopied entrance prior to the restaurant's 1999 opening. French bistro standards, such as steak frites and moules marinière (mussels steamed in white wine), share the menu with American-inspired favorites, such as pan-roasted duck breast and grilled pork or lamb chops. Nightly rotating entrées range from bouillabaisse to prime rib.

Full bar. Serving lunch Mon–Fri, dinner Mon–Sat. Closed Sun.

City Newspaper: Most Romantic Restaurant, 2009 readers' poll

"In a renovated 1890s ambulance garage, this cheery and casual, often-crowded restaurant and lively bar -- a consistent local award winner -- is a great place for dinner before or after a show at Little Theatre, behind which the restaurant is located."
